Hubble has spotted an ancient galaxy that shouldn’t exist

This galaxy is so large, so fully-formed, astronomers say it shouldn’t exist at all. It’s called a “grand-design” spiral galaxy, and unlike most galaxies of its kind, this one is old. Like, really, really old. According to a new study conducted by researchers using NASA’s Hubble Telescope, it dates back roughly 10.7-billion years — and that makes it the most ancient spiral galaxy we’ve ever discovered.

“The vast majority of old galaxies look like train wrecks,” said UCLA astrophysicist Alice Shapley in a press release. “Our first thought was, why is this one so different, and so beautiful?”

This is Sealand. It is an actual place and not just a character on Hetalia. It is literally a micronation with a claimed population of 27 and has a flag, website, and a coat of arms. It’s not recognized as an official country but it isn’t claimed by any other European nation.

My uncle and his friend had nothing to do one night while stationed Europe (They’re in the Air Force. ) so they decided to buy the title of Duke of Sealand. My uncle is literally a duke of Sealand.

They were in a war once.The prince was kidnapped. They won.

I actually remember learning about Sealand in goverment class one time, and they apparently attempted to gain recognition as a nation from the UK by declaring war with them. When the UK sent a diplomat to tell them to shut the hell up, they claimed that their diplomacy was proof that they were their own entity.
